How does Reiki work and what is a typical Reiki healing session?

Reiki is a Japanese technique, which is good for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing and balance. A Reiki healing session is done to a fully clothed client who is lying on a treatment table or massage table. It can also be done sitting in a comfortable, supported chair.

Reiki is offered by laying the palm of the hands lightly or non-invasively on or over the client's body on a series of locations from head to the toe to treat or cure various ailments. The placement of hands should never be intrusive or inappropriate, nor should there be any pressure. Additional placements on the limbs can be done as needed (for example, if there is an injury or surgical scar). The Reiki practitioner holds her hands just off the body if needed (for example, in the presence of an open wound or burn).

The Reiki practitioner assists the client to heal themselves spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically by a simple laying on of hands. The practitioner channels the Universal Life Force energy allowing it to flow where is needed to bring the energy centers into alignment..

The Reiki practitioner is a clear vessel through which the healing energy flows and is only an instrumental part in the healing process. It is entirely up to the client to be open to manifest the healing to be able to attain harmony and balance in their own life.
